Even though I don’t own guns, I just recently joined NRA to support them fighting the latest wave of gun control legislation insanity. After SCOTUS decision on NY “may issue” law, MA has scrambled to rework their similar law to weasel around the decision, oops, I mean to make MA safe again. I’ve found myself in the middle of a back and forth correspondence with a state rep who is all in on the restrict guns for everyone so ‘monsters’ don’t get them - and - to have a gun you must declare a “proper cause” that meets with the state’s approval. Red flag laws are also an existential issue. I don’t know why so many people have such a problem with recognizing root issues and trying to solve them, and also why many people can’t seem to understand “…the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.“
Ok, I'll recycle a thing I put in a comment at mr Rigger's Stack:
"Fathers should teach what my father in law taught my wife when she was a teen: how to shoot and how to throw knifes. Ain't no bigger equaliser and democratiser than the gun." True, yes?
Right, having recycled and thus saved the planet (isn't re-cycling what you normally do in a velodrome, just going around and around?) I have the perfect cure for insomnia. No, not binge drinking. No, not binge eating either. I've tried both at the same time as a young man and sleep is the last thing you want to do. Haven't tried laudanum, could be hard to get without a time-machine too, though in one town I lived in years ago an old persian man sold it in small brown glass bottles, the kind you can slam dunk without them breaking. Two drops in a cup of tea was his recipe. He had bo dea it was very illegal, and found it silly. Lovely shop he had too - every "Mysteries of the Orient" cliché stacked to the roof. It wouldn't have surprised anyone if a genie (no, not a blue cartoon Robin Williams, this was before that movie) had popped out of a lamp or a carpet had taken off on its own, joining the stuffed crocodile he had hanging from the ceiling.
No, to cure insomnia you sort nails and screws and buttons and stuff like that. Alternatively, you decide to stay up and get things dine and then sort of amble about the next day, struggling with difficult high-brow concepts like tying your shoelaces.
Today it's raining. That's good, because that means I don't have to fetch water for the plants in the garden. Carting 600L of water manually is a chore and no mistake. Well, enough back-patting, I've got black currants on the stove, blue berries in the fridge and other stuff too that's going to become juice and sherbet and jam and stuff.
And in the root cellar, four demijohn's are filled with water, honey, yeast (re-used from previous batches) and the extracted juice of fireweed-flowers and meadwort. Fingers crossed, in mid-September it'll be ripe for bottling and storing. (It must be, because by then I need the demijohn's for the damsons.) Edit: obviously I don't cart 600L all at once! I have to make three turns.
The pew pew life. 😊 Check out Colion Noir on Utoob. He's from Texas and, I think, a lawyer. Great videos regarding guns and great commentary on goings on in government and around the country. Check out some of his merch, too.
Wouldn’t mind a bit, learning how to use that machine well and safely. I’ve always liked tools & owned a lot of them, before I blew my life up. Not guns of course. I’m a Brit. We’ve always been disarmed.
Whew, you scared me there for a minute! At first I thought that was a dreaded gypsy moth. One of those things can supposedly eat up to a square foot of tree leaves a day!
See you tomorrow.
