Two quickies, the second ineligible as it comes from a comment thread elsewhere on the website.

My garage needs cleaning. I believe the FBI offers the best service. Is the free offer still on?

Yeah, just post a few memes for the contest and they'll be right over.

Come over FBI, I know you can’t resist. My plants are now sky high, the brew will get you pissed. Watch the sleaziest tease, performed by The Gutter Dance Flees. And behind the dunny is the stash of money. Doing a “skip bin”, lots of fun, don’t forget your gun, before you run. 🦠🔫🐔 🖐🤩🍺🐊🥰😵‍💫🐊🥰🐽🍺🐽 😱 Guttermaniac!

Obviously the misguided individuals who subscribe to Mouth Missives should be known as "Gutterists".

I'm clearly not well-schooled in meme-making but this is my best effort:

Ghuttoblasters. Sorry, I'm a little "hood", and by that I mean I listened to a good bit of Dr. Dre and Snoop in the mid-90s. I'll get you a tasty meme

Best era of quite a lot of pop culture.

I'll do you one better, or maybe worse. I'm your ally here, although I think the 80s wins for movies and TV by a slight edge. Well, the 80s had great music too, and music videos were still just hitting their peak. So maybe I'm not as much of an ally.

I think I'd safely defend my claim that the best era of pop culture was 1983 to 1996. That covers the awesome cold war/teen drama movies, hair metal, grunge, Knight Rider/A-Team/Magnum PI/Airwolf/post-Nam vigilantes, X-files, Simpsons, NWA to Biggie Smalls. Yeah, I'll defend that as my answer.

Your range is acceptable to me. I DO think TV got better going into the 90s- we saw the beginning of more creative risk-taking in storytelling, less hidebound by conservative content codes, etc.- and while I do love a lot of 80s music, the 90s saw an explosion of those genres into some genuinely new and interesting things, which I really can't say about any generation of music since then.

1970 to 1990.

Before Big Data, when there was still this thing called sub-culture which could grow from the muck up and have a good life before becoming a blanderised bowdlerized commodity for the [long list of boring slurs].

Before the guys and girls making awesome films, music, festivals, art, and what not got enough funds to actually finance their "vision" and had to be creative instead, meaning that whatever they produced was still memeorable and entertaining and moving in some way. A movie such as Gas-s-s-s could never be made today, not even by film school students.

Prog rock oi ska speed metal heavy metal US punk british punk european punk late surf rock psychobilly - walking down the street in the big city in full gear, all your mates around you, case of beer under your arm and a ghettoblaster on your other shoulder thundering something stompy, and all for a great time, a good show and a good showing, fun and games.

The 1970s and 1980s are to the middle aged what the 1920s and early 1930s were to our (great)grandparents - prelude to decay to wet the appetite for destruction.

Not like today, no fun, just effing gangsta rap about drugs and rape and murder and kids with knives and machine pistols and sub-machine guns killing eachother over insults. Lemmy said it best in 'Hardware':

"Used to be okay down, you know that? Used to be you could walk down here anytime, go out on a Saturday night with nothing more than brass knuckles and nothing else, maybe a piece of wood or something, piece of pipe no what I mean? Nowadays, you need a gun all the time, fucking bunch of shit what these people are doing to the fucking world."

As a tombstone to the decades that went before, I'd argue 'Hardware' does its job right.

Today is garbage. No question.

But consider that I was a little kid in the 80s and couldn't access a lot of the popular culture, and also that the 90s had some genuine NEW things going on in music, movies, and TV that wasn't all nihilistic edgelording or corporate SJW garbage like now.

The Internet was exciting and a lot of fun when it was new and required skills and an attention span to participate in, for example.
