While it’s entirely possible the war in Ukraine will go on literally forever, that’s statistically unlikely. When it does end, though, there’ll be this space we’re currently calling Ukraine that either Russia or the Clinton Alliance will have to decide what to do with. Since NATO and Friends are betting they’ll win, they’re being smart and planning for war’s end, and the solution is to just give the whole thing to Blackrock, who’s presently negotiating a no-competition contract to do all the “rebuilding.” Fun fact! The Ukrainian government passed a land reform law in 2021 allowing international corporations to buy as much property in the precious land of heroes as they want.
You guys remember Blackrock. They bought all the properties that went into foreclosure in the 2008 crisis, and then did it again after the federal government forced businesses to stop running but not stop paying rent and mortgage. At fire-sale prices, because that’s a smart way to do it.
The solution is clear. We need to send more money to Ukraine immediately. Since we don’t seem to be printing more money fast enough, and we don’t have any left in our pockets, we should start doing like our Great Depression parents and grandparents and looking for the stashes we left behind the walls and shit. Maybe there’s some in a cooler in Biden’s garage, next to his Corvette.
Hey! Speaking of Biden’s Corvette! We’re now up to THREE separate locations where classified documents have been sitting since Biden’s vice-presidency, including a “nonprofit” funded by the Chinese government and a house Hunter rented for exactly the same amount of money he was being paid for his bullshit board job in… Ukraine!
To be fair, lots of men of Hunter’s generation rent the space above their dad’s Corvette for exactly what they’re making at their job. The difference is that is usually zero, and not $50,000 a month. That feels like a lot to me since the parties really haven’t been all that good.

The CDC thinks some people might have died from the vaccine, and Leanna Wen thinks hospitals might be counting people as COVID deaths that didn’t actually die of COVID! It’s nobody’s fault, though. The word/name they write as Saetere would be written Säter in modern swedish, a word which means "clearing/pasture made in the forest far from home"; I guess twaithe would be the closest translation. Säter is a very common place-name in middle Sweden, either as the full name or as a suffix, in various forms and spellings depending on the dialect in the specific area and how it was initially transcribed to latin letters. Forms like -säter/-sätt/-sätter/-sätra/-sättra are common examples.
Whether that has anything to do with the hypothesised Saetere as one of the äsir or as an alternatvie name for Loke, well your guess is as good as mine. The äsir collected names like us moderns collects student debt almost.
Though (this is from memory - beware!) since Loke's parents' names means "dry needles" (pine and spruce needles) and "flame/spark" respectively, one could construct a plausible explanation for the connection between Säter and Saetere from the practice of using fire to create arable land out of the wid forest. Seems logical to me that you'd invoke gods that might help you burn the right way, without causing a forest fire. Slash-and-burn is called "svedjebruk" in swedish, svedja/-e meaning to scorch orburn until it's ashes, and bruk (here) means to use; "burn it so you can use it" would be the meaning of the word.
(Speaking of Ukraine, our attempts to join the Kool Kids Klub was further thwarted the other day, when kurdish activists [allegedly] hung an effigy of Erdogan outside parliament. The swedish speaker of the riksdag was to visit Turkey but was brusquely informed that he isn't welcome. And lo and behold, yesterday/today the Biden White House promised Turkey military material including fighter jets at a discount price. Whadda coinky-dink!)
Anyway, Saturday in swedish is Lördag. Lör- comes from the old word for washing oneself; löga. So it means the day you wash yourself. Rotunda, mentioned in the poem in the linked article, means the place where you hold dances: dans-rotunda.
So there's at least some plausibility in Saetere and rotunda being remnants of a tradition where you slash-and-burned new land: we still say that flames dance, don't we?
